Thing 23 One Last Thing

I am happy that I decided to stick with 23 Things. I often had trouble downloading items. I had a 20's something libarian help and she couldn't figure out why it didn't work. I feel that I learned something from each of the things.
I completed the survey and emailed metronet that I had finished.
I hope to go back to my blog and spruce it up!
Thanks to everyone who put this together.

Thing 22 Staying Current

I hope to spend 15 minutes a day doing 1 of the 23 Things. I breezed over some things, but I think I learned something new when I was doing each thing.
I signed up at Web Junction and will get their monthly updates.
I will check Bloglines daily. I hope to go back and more fully do some things.

Thing 21 Social Networking

I joined Ning and left comments for another member.
I looked over social networks and joining another network seems overwhelming for me right now.

Visit 23 Things on a Stick

Thing 20 Libraries and Social Networks

I watched the Video-so funny!
I watched the tutorial. Common Craft does a good job. Their one on Wiki was also good.
I registered on Facebook, set up my profile, joined 2 groups-Libraries Using Facebook and 23 things on a stick. I wrote on the first's wall.
I browsed MySpace and looked at HCL Myspace Page. I see they have links to their programs and many, many friends.

On to Thing 21!

Thing 19 Podcasts

I listened to several. One source took too long to load.
Mankato one was all graphics-pretty cool.
I linked MPR's classical music podcast to my blog reader account.

Thing 18 Youtube

I watched March of the Librarians. Reminded me of PLA last week. I didn't spot the MN librarian.

Minnesota Library 2.0 Thing 16 and 17

Thing 16 Calendar
I looked at the calendars and wished I had these back when I was in school.

Thing 17 ELM
We have the 5 Ebsco databases on our computers for the patrons.
I will get one of them on my RSS feed after I finish 23 Things.

Thing 15 On-line Games in Libraries

I watched the Second Life video. I never even heard of Second Life until I heard Joseph Janes at PLA. Now I have seen what he was talking about.
It would be nice to have gaming at the library, but there are more basic things we need first.

Thing 13 and Thing 14 Online Productivity Tools

Thing 13 and Thing 14

I set up a Library Thing account but I couln't get it to my blog. I will use this instead of paper for keeping a list of the books I have read. I see more uses for it also.

I also created a TaDa list. I didn't like Backpack but I do not like doing anything that may cost money.
I hope to keep using both of these after 23 things is over. Right now I am trying to just get finished.

Thing 12 Do you Digg

I put a New York Times article on Digg.
I have seen the Share button before and now I know what it does.

Thing 11 Tagging and del.ico.us

I tagged my Thing 9 and 10 blog with 2 tags.
I looked over Mixx, Digg, Newvine and Reddit
Mixx was arranged by stories, Digg by most recent. I was surprised to see that Newsvine had advertising. Reddit has tabs-Hot, New, Browse and Stats.
I think in the future I may use these.

Thing 9 and 10 Collaboration

I wasn't able to edit in Gov Docs. I read about the ideas.
I don't think the Founding Fathers would be happy about us editing their work.

I added an enty to the the 23 Things on a Stick wiki. It was the first thing I was able to do since I spelled something with Flickr.
I watched all the wiki presentations. I liked the Library Success: A Best Practices wiki. It had some good ideas for programs. At Anoka County we have a wiki set up for many kinds of booklists.
